MANOR COLLEGE BASEBALL DEFEATED IN GAME TWO OF A ROAD DOUBLEHEADER VERSUS PENN STATE UNIVERSITY-SCRANTON

DUNMORE, PA—United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Pennsylvania State University-Scanton (4-9) scored in every inning as the Nittany Lions defeated the Manor College Blue Jays (0-6), 34-1, in five innings, in game two of a road doubleheader at Matt McGloin Baseball Field.

Scranton scored 11 runs each in the first two innings.  They sent 17 batters to the plate in the first and 14 in the second.  

Manor scored its run in the top of the third.  Freshman left fielder Emiliano Hernandez (Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico/Cobaej) led off with a single to left field.  Freshman right fielder-relief pitcher Shawn Suero (Philadelphia, PA/Abraham Lincoln) walked.  Junior center fielder Manny Roach's (Medford, NJ/Life Center Academy) single to left, scored Hernandez. Junior shortstop Charlie Levy (Jenkintown, PA/Jenkintown) outfield single to second advanced Roach to second.  Freshman third baseman Nate Perez (Newark, NJ/Donald M. Payne School of Technology) was hit by a pitch which loaded the bases.  While junior first baseman Eric Engesser (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown West) was batting, Roach scored on a wild pitch, and Levy and Perez moved up one base.  Levy scored on a swinging strikeout, catcher to first, and Perez advanced to third.  Freshman catcher Shawn Navas (Levittown, PA/Neshaminy) walked with one out. While freshman starting pitcher Victor Veyan (Fairfax, VA/C.G. Woodson) was batting, Shawn Navas stole second, and Perez scored on freshman catcher Jake Iacavazzi's throwing error.  

The Nittany Lions scored six runs each in the third and fourth innings.  They batted around in the third and sent 11 batters to hit in the fourth. 

Batting Leaders: Roach also singled and walked.

Every Scranton hitter scored at least one run.  Three players had multiple hit games. Two also contributed multiple walk games.

Pitching Leaders: Freshman Allan Koger (0-1) started the game and Suero pitched the remaining 3 ⅔ innings for the Blue Jays.

Junior Braden Savage (1-0) pitched the first three innings, striking out three.  Junior Kevin Rivera finished the game in relief, pitching two innings for the Nittany Lions.

Season Series (Since 2024): Manor is 0-2 overall (0-2 on the road) versus Scranton.

Next Games: Manor is scheduled to play a road doubleheader versus the USCAA eighth-ranked Pennsylvania State University-Schuylkill Nittany Lions (13-5) on Tuesday, March 24 at 11 a.m. at Blue Mountain High School in Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania.  This is the first meeting between the two schools.
