MANOR COLLEGE BASEBALL DEFEATED IN GAME TWO OF A ROAD DOUBLEHEADER VERSUS NATIONALLY-RANKED PENN STATE UNIVERSITY-SCHUYLKILL

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, PA—United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Pennsylvania State University-Schuylkill (14-5) second year second baseman Roman Cieless contributed a hit, two walks, two runs scored, two runs batted in and five stolen bases as the pre-season eighth-ranked Nittany Lions shut out the Manor College Blue Jays (0-8), 9-2, in game two of a road doubleheader at Blue Mountain High School.

Schuylkill sent ten batters to the hit and scored five runs in the first inning.  The Nittany Lions scored one run each in the second through sixth innings.

Manor scored its runs in the top of the third inning.  Freshman left fielder Emiliano Hernandez (Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico/Cobaej) led off with a single to center field.  While freshman third baseman Victor Veyan (Fairfax, VA/C.G. Woodson) was batting, Hernandez stole second.  Veyan reached on a second year right fielder Lane Lehman error, scoring Hernandez.  Sophomore center fielder Lucky Lindley's (Montclair, VA/Forest Park) ground out, pitcher to first base, advanced Veyan to third.  Junior right fielder Manny Roach's (Medford, NJ/Life Center Academy) ground out, shortstop to first, scored Veyan.

Batting Leaders: Senior catcher Cidrick Navas (Levittown, PA/Samuel Fels) walked twice and stole a base..

In addition to Cieless, second year left fielder Brandon Pupek contributed a hit, scored two runs, and stole five bases.  Lehman stole two bases, walked and scored a run.  Third year right fielder Alex Fantaskey walked twice and scored a run.  First year shortstop Tyler Shuey singled and knocked in two runs.  First year third baseman Blake Deiter singled, doubled, scored a run, and contributed two RBI for the Nittany Lions

Pitching Leaders: Freshman Shawn Navas (Levittown, PA/Neshaminy) started, pitched the first three innings and freshmen Carlos Espinal (Philadelphia, PA/Community Academy of Philadelphia) and Nate Perez (Newark, NJ/Donald M. Payne School of Technology) pitched the final three innings for the Blue Jays.

Second year starter Connor Licklider (1-0) pitched the first four innings, striking out four and allowing two unearned runs, two hits, and one walk.  Second year pitcher Aiden Barner got credit for the save, pitching the final three scoreless innings, striking out two for the Nittany Lions.

Season Series (Since 2024): Manor is 0-2 overall (0-2 on the road) versus Schuylkill.

Next Games:  The Blue Jays are scheduled to play a home doubleheader versus the Patrick Henry Sentinels (0-4) on Saturday, March 28 at Noon at Roslyn Park in Abington, Pennsylvania.  The Sentinels swept a doubleheader in its initial season series games versus the Blue Jays on April 13, 2024, 18-6 (in five innings) and 14-9, at Alverthorpe Park in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania.

Next Road Games: Manor is scheduled to play the Penn State University-Hazleton Nittany Lions (8-8 of March 24) on Sunday, March 29 at Noon at North Berwick Baseball Field in Berwick, Pennsylvania. This is the first match-up between the two schools.
