HAMILTON, VA—Every United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Manor College (3-30) member of its starting lineup reached base as the Blue defeated the Patrick Henry Sentinels (0-11), 15-4, in five innings, in game one of a road doubleheader at Scott Jenkins Memorial Park.
Manor sent 10 batters to hit in the top of the first inning. Sophomore center fielder Lucky Lindley (Montclair, VA/Forest Park) led off the game with a single to left. While senior starting pitcher Cidrick Navas (Levittown, PA/Samuel Fels) was batting. Lindley stole second base. Cidrick Navas was hit by a junior starting pitcher Isaac Collum pitch. Junior shortstop Charlie Levy (Jenkintown, PA/Jenkintown) reached safely on a fielder's choice ground ball to second which loaded the bases. Freshman Nate Perez' (Newark, NJ/Donald M. Payne School of Technology) single to left scored Lindley and reloaded the bases. Freshman right fielder Will Murray (West Hampton, NJ/Rancocas Valley Regional) grounded into a fielder's choice, pitcher to catcher, and reloaded the bases for the second time in the inning. Freshman left fielder Shawn Suero's (Philadelphia, PA/Abraham Lincoln) two-out single to right scored Levy and Perez and advanced Murray to third. Freshman second baseman Brandy Torres (Philadelphia, PA/Excel Academy South) reached on a freshman first baseman Johnny Field missed catch error which scored Murray.
Patrick Henry scored once in the bottom of the first. Junior left fielder Jackson Bell led off with a single. Collum was hit by a pitch. Sophomore third baseman Chase Hope single that deflected from second base to right loaded the bases. Sophomore catcher Isaiah Kasowski's bases-loaded walk scored Bell.
The Blue Jays added to its lead with two runs in the second, Levy singled to center with one out. Perez reached on senior shortstop Ryan Slemmer's fielding error and Levy scored on Slemmer's throwing error on the same sequence. Murray's ground out, second to first, advanced Perez to second. Freshman third baseman Victor Veyan's (Fairfax, VA/C.G. Woodson) two-out single to left scored Perez.
Manor built on its lead with three runs in the third. While Lindley was batting, junior courtesy runner Manny Roach (Medford, NJ/Life Center Academy) stole second. Lindley's single to center advanced Roach to third. While Cidrick Navas was batting, Lindley stole his second base of the game. Cidrick Navas' ground out, third to first, scored Roach, and advanced Lindley to third. Levy's two-out infield single to short scored Lindley. While Perez was batting Levy stole second and later moved to third on a Culum wild pitch. Perez' double to left scored Levy.
The Sentinels scored another single run in the third. Hope walked with one out and advanced to second on Kasowski's single to center. While Field was batting, Hope stole third and Kasowski stole second. Hope later stole home during Kasowski's plate appearance.
The Blue Jays increased its lead with a pair of two-out runs in the fourth. Suero reached second on a one-out swinging strikeout and Kasowski's throwing error. Freshman catcher Shawn Navas (Levittown, PA/Neshaminy) walked with two out. Lindley's double to left scored Suero and freshman courtesy runner Emiliano Hernandez (Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico/Cobaej).
Patrick Henry scored a two-out run in the fourth. Junior second baseman Isaac Bedrosian singled to left with one out and advanced to second on junior ight fielder Angel Aquino's ground out to first. Bedrosian scored on a two-out fielding error.
Manor finished its scoring with four runs in the fifth. Cidrick Navas led off with an infield single to third. While Levy was batting, Roach stole second, his second of the game. Levy's single to left moved Roach to third. Perez' ground out, short to first, scored Roach, advanced Levy to third. Murray was hit by a Collum pitch with one out. Veyan's double to center scored Levy and Murray. Brandy Torres' two-out double to left scored Veyan.
The Sentinels finished its scoring in the bottom of the fifth. Hope reached on a fielding error and stole second while Kasowski was batting. Field's one-out single to center scored Hope, but Field was out trying to stretch it into a double, center to pitcher to second. Senior center fielder Chris Ziemnick's bunt ground out, Cidrick Navas to Peres, ended the game.
Manor won its first road game as an USCAA member, breaking a 21-game road losing streak. The Blue Jays last won a road game as a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XIX Division III member on April 14, 2019 at Bucks County Community College, 19-8, in game one of a doubleheader.
Batting Leaders: Lindley singled three times, stole two bases, scored twice, and knocked in two runs. Cidrick Navas singled, was hit by a pitch, and knocked in one. Levy singled three times, stole two bases, scored four runs, and knocked in one. Perez singled, doubled, scored once, and knocked in three. Murray was hit by a pitch and scored twice. Veyan singled, doubled, scored once, and knocked in two. Brandy Torres doubled, stole two bases, and knocked in one. Shawn Navas walked four times, Roach stole two bases and scored twice.
Pitching Leaders: Cidrick Navas pitched a complete game in his final collegiate start.
