MANOR COLLEGE MEN’S BASKETBALL LOSES ON THE ROAD VERSUS NCAA DIVISION III CAIRN UNIVERSITY

LANGHORNE, PA—NCAA Division III Cairn University (3-0) Graduate Student guard Corey Baldwin led the Highlanders with 24 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and four steals as they defeated the USCAA Division I Manor College Blue Jays (2-1), 87-76.

Manor scored the game's first seven points in the first 1:42 of the game. Cairn answered with an 18-6 run over the next 4:59 (between 18:18 and 13:19), and led by its largest first half margin, 18-13, with 13:19 remaining on Graduate Student guard  Ron Ayers' layup. Between 14:23 and 1:16 of the first half (a 13:07 stretch) there would be five ties and eight lead changes.  The Blue Jays took the lead for the remainder of the first half on senior forward Bryce Nwobu's (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) layup with 1:16 left.  The Blue Jays scored the final eight points over the last 1:16 of the first half and led at halftime, 44-37.  There were five ties and eight leads in the first half.  They also finished the final 3:11 of the first half on a 12-3 run.  Nwobu led both teams with 12 points and 11 rebounds.  Junior guard Manny Roach (Medford, NJ/Life Center Academy) scored 10 for the Blue Jays.

The Blue Jays built on their first half and led by double-digits for the only time, 53-43, on Roach's three-point basket with an assist by junior forward Deacon Linder (Philadelphia, PA/Hardy Williams Academy [Mastery]) with 16:30 left.  The Highlanders answered with a 11-2 run between 16:20 and 13:18 of the second and closed the gap to 55-54 on Graduate Student guard Chris Hill's layup. Cairn tied the contest at 60 with 11:06 on a sophomore guard Andrew DaCosta's layup.  This completed a 17-5 Cairn run between 16:20 and 11:06 of the second half (a 5:04 stretch).  Manor retook the lead, 62-60, on Nwobu's jump shot with 10:05 left.  The Blue Jays took the lead for the last time, 67-64, on a Nwobu three-point play (layup and free throw) with 9:06 remaining.  The Highlanders took the lead for good, 68-67, on a pair of DaCosta free throws with 7:43 left.  This began a 12-0 run for Cairn between 8:24 and 5:04 of the second (a 3:20 stretch) and they led by 76-67 on a Graduate Student guard Jaylon Simpson three-point basket. The Blue Jays got as close as 76-70 with 4:36 left on a Linder three-point basket. The Highlanders finished the final 8:24 of the contest on a 22-9 run.   The Highlanders outscored the Blue Jays in the second half, 50-32.  Baldwin led both teams with 19 points. Hill added 10 points for Cairn.  Nwobu paced Manor with 12 points.

The loss snapped Manor's 11-game overall and seven-game road winning streaks dating back to the 2024-2025 season.

Statistical Leaders: Nwobu led Manor with 24 points and led both teams with 14 rebounds.  Roach added 19 for the Blue Jays and paced both squads with five assists.

Four Highlanders scored in double-figures in addition to Baldwin: Hill (17), DaCosta (12 off the bench), and Simpson (10).
