MANOR COLLEGE MEN’S BASKETBALL’S LATE SECOND HALF COMEBACK DEFEATS CHEYNEY UNIVERSITY

JENKINTOWN, PA—Manor College (6-3) junior guard Manny Roach's (Medford, NJ/Life Center Academy) go-ahead three-point basket with 1:07 left in the second half lifted the eighth-ranked USCAA Division I Blue Jays to a 96-92 home victory versus the Cheyney University Wolves (3-8).

After Cheyney senior guard S.J. Hutchinson II's jump shot with 15:43 left in the first half gave the Wolves an 11-6 lead, Manor answered with 11 straight points, and took a 17-11 lead on senior guard Tyray Cooper's (Baltimore, MD/Woodlawn) layup and goaltending on Cheyney.  Following junior forward Naadhir Wood's hook shot with 14:44 remaining, the Blue Jays scored six points and took its first double-digit and largest first-half lead, 24-13, on Cooper's jump shot.  Altogether, Manor went on an 18-2 run.  After Cooper's hook shot gave the Blue Jays a 34-27 lead, the Wolves went on a 9-2 run and tied the contest at 36 on junior forward Eaton Smith's three-point basket with 3:22 left.  Both teams exchanged leads towards the end of the half.  Roach's free throw with seconds remaining gave the Blue Jays a 46-45 lead which they took into halftime.  Cooper led both teams with 20 points and Roach contributed 11 points for Manor.  Hutchinson II paced Cheyney with 15 points and senior guard Jason Young added 12 points for the Wolves.

Both teams exchanged baskets and did not score more than two straight times for most of the first 7:02 of the second half.  Junior forward Deacon Linder's (Philadelphia, PA/Hardy Williams Academy [Mastery]) hook shot gave Manor a 65-63 lead with 12:58 left and its second lead of the second half.  Cheyney answered with a 13-2 run and took a 76-67 lead on Wood's three-point basket.  The Blue Jays got within 77-73 on senior forward Cheikh Diagne's (Philadelphia, PA/Northeast) layup with 7:02 remaining.  The Wolves responded again and went on a 10-3 run and took its largest lead of the game, 87-76, with 4:45 left on Smith's slam dunk.  Manor scored 11 straight points between 4:24 and 2:56 remaining (a 1:28 stretch) and tied the contest at 87 on Diagne's layup.  Cheyney retook the lead on consecutive baskets and led 91-87 on redshirt senior forward D'Angelo Lake's layup.  The Blue Jays retook the lead for good on Roach's three-point basket with 1:07 left.  Manor outscored Cheyney 20-5 over the remaining 4:24 of the game and allowed two field goals during that stretch.  The Blue Jays outscored the Wolves in the second half, 50-47.  Roach led both teams with 17 second-half points and Diagne contributed 11 points for Manor.  Wood paced Cheyney with 11 points and Smith added 10 points for the Wolves.

Statistical Leaders: Roach led both teams with 28 points and paced Manor with three steals.  Cooper contributed 27 points.  Diagne added 17 points.  Linder scored 10 points and led the Blue Jays with nine rebounds.  Senior forward Bryce Nwobu (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) paced both teams with a career-best 10 assists.

Hutchinson led Cheyney with 21 points.  Young scored 15 points.  Wood led both benches with 15 points and nine rebounds.  Smith came off the bench to score 13 points.  Lake scored 10 points and paced both teams with 11 rebounds.  Fraiser scored 10 points and led the Wolves with six assists.  Senior guard Joshua Blackmon paced both teams with four steals.

Nwobu's Double-Digit Assist Feat: Nwobu became the first Manor Men's Basketball player to contribute 10 assists in a game this season.  He joins the following Blue Jays with double-digit assists in a single-game: Namir Simmons (11 versus Bucks County Community College on March 1, 2025), Roach (10 at Christendom College on February 25, 2025), Simmons (10 at Bucks County Community College on February 15, 2024), and Shyere Mayhue (Manor school-USCAA record 14 versus Patrick Henry on January 21, 2023).

"Three is the Magic Number" (Manor Edition):  Manor made 11 three-point baskets for the second time in the previous three games.  This is the ninth time overall (fourth at home) since the Blue Jays' 2021-2022 USCAA debut that they have made double-digit three-point baskets in a game.  They are 1-1 overall (1-0 at home) this season when they have made 10 or more three-point baskets in a game.  The Blue Jays are 6-3 overall (4-0 at home) when they have made double-digit three-point baskets in a game since the 2021-2022 season.  The team's USCAA single-game record is 15 versus the Patrick Henry College Sentinels on November 11, 2023.

Manor Leading at Halftime (Since 2021-2022): The Blue Jays are 6-1 overall (3-0 at home) when leading at halftime this season. They have won 14 of its last 15 games overall when leading at halftime, dating back to last season.  Manor is 34-9 overall (17-5 at home) when leading at halftime since joining the USCAA.  

Manor in the Nineties:  Manor is 2-0 overall (2-0 at home) this season when scoring 90 to 99 points in a game.  They are 11-4 overall (6-4 at home) since the 2021-2022 season, including nine straight overall and eight in a row at home.

Manor at Home (Since 2021-2022): Manor is 3-0 at home this season and have won eight straight dating back to last season.  They are 24-9 since the 2021-2022 season. The eight straight home wins are the most since they also won eight during the 2017-2018 season (November 2, 2017-December 9, 2017) when they were NJCAA Region XIX Division II members.

Next Game: Manor hosts the ninth-ranked USCAA Division I Bryant and Stratton College-Syracuse Bobcats (3-3 as of December 10) on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 2 p.m. at the Gymnasium in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. This will be the first meeting between the two schools.
