MANOR COLLEGE WOMEN’S BASKETBALL LOSES ON THE ROAD VERSUS NCAA DIVISION III PENNSYLVANIA STATE UNIVERSITY-ABINGTON

ABINGTON, PA—Pennsylvania State University (10-6) junior guard/forward Amirah Hackney led the team with 32 points as the NCAA Division III Nittany Lions defeated the USCAA Division III Manor College Blue Jays (1-3), 108-42, at the Athletic Building.

This is Manor's first game after the College's Holiday Break.

This is also the Blue Jays' first game versus a NCAA school.

Manor previously played Penn State-Abington during the 2004-2005 season (The Blue Jays won, 70-28 and 59-44, at home and on the road, respectively) when both schools were Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference (EPCC) members.

Abington never trailed in this game. The Nittany Lions scored the game's first dozen points between 9:20 and 7:28 remaining (a 1:52 stretch).  Manor got twice within nine points. Freshman guard Kyjanae Cooper's (Philadelphia, PA/Mastery Charter-Pickett Campus) three-point put the Blue Jays within 14-5 with 6:04 left.  Sophomore guard/forward Endrina Fields' (Philadelphia, PA/Agora Cyber Charter School) layup with 2:02 remaining got Manor within 18-9. The Nittany Lions scored the final eight points in the first quarter and took its largest lead of the quarter, 26-9, on Hackney's three-point basket with about four seconds left, which was also the score after the first quarter.  Hackney led both teams with 16 points.  

The Nittany Lions scored the first seven points in the first 1:52 of the second quarter. They scored 15 straight points between 1:03 left in the first quarter and 8:08 in the second (a 2:55 stretch).   The Blue Jays got twice within 19 points.  Freshman guard Faith Darlington's (Philadelphia, PA/Sankofa Freedom Academy Charter School) three-point basket got Manor within 38-19 with 4:52 remaining.  Cooper's three-point basket got the Blue Jays within 41-22 with 4:00 left.  Abington finished the final 3:20 of the second quarter and the first half on a 15-2 run and led 56-24 at halftime.  The Nittany Lions outscored the Blue Jays in the second quarter, 30-15. Hackney led both teams with 26 points in the first half.  Junior guard Amina Reid scored 14 points for Abington.  Copper paced the Blue Jays with 13 first-half points.

Abington outscored Manor in the third quarter, 25-6, and led 81-30 after three quarters.  Hackney led both teams with 32 points after three quarters. Reid (16 points), senior guard/forward Nia Newman (12), and junior guard/forward Sereniti Minor (10) were double-figure Nittany Lion scorers after three.  Cooper paced Manor with 17 points after three.

The Nittany Lions outscored the Blue Jays in the fourth quarter, 27-12.  Abington outscored Manor in the second half, 52-18.  Cooper led both teams with 10 second-half points.

Statistical Leaders: Cooper led Manor with 23 points and nine rebounds.  Darlington and freshman guard Rashana Brown (Philadelphia, PA/Mastery Charter-Pickett Campus) paced the Blue Jays with three assists each. 

In addition to Hackney, Reid contributed a "triple-double" with 21 points and led both teams with 12 assists and 11 rebounds.  She also paced both teams with seven steals.  Nia Newman scored 14 points and Minor added 12 points for the Nittany Lions.

Cooper's Scoring Feats:  Cooper became the first Blue Jay to score 20 or more points in four consecutive games since Manor joined the USCAA.  She was the first since Emazhane Livingston when Livingston did it also in four straight.  Livingston scored 24 points at NJCAA Region XIX Division II Raritan Valley Community College on February 2, 2019; 32 points versus NJCAA Region XIX Division II Bucks County Community College; 26 points at Region XIX Division II Cecil College on January 28, 2019; and 21 points versus NJCAA Region XIX Division II Mercer County Community College  on January 26, 2019.  Altogether, Livingston scored 20 or more points six times during the 2018-2019 season when Manor was a NJCAA Region XIX Division II member.

Manor on the Road (Since 2022-2023): The Blue Jays are 0-2 on the road this season.  They are seeking their first USCAA road win after five games since the 2022-2023 season.  

Season Series (Since 2022-2023): This is the first game in the series.

Manor versus NCAA Colleges and Universities: This is Manor's first game versus a NCAA School.

Manor versus Pennsylvania Colleges and Universities (Since 2022-2023): The Blue Jays are 0-1 overall (0-1 on the road) this season versus Pennsylvania Colleges and Universities.  They are seeking their first win after six games overall (three on the road) versus Pennsylvania Colleges and Universities since 2022-2023.

Next Game: The Blue Jays' travel on the road to play the Patrick Henry College Sentinels (0-3) on Friday, January 16 at 4 p.m. at the Barbara Hodel Center Gymnasium in Purcellville, Virginia.  Manor defeated Patrick Henry in its previous matchup, 57-49, on November 22, 2025 at home in Jenkintown,  The Blue Jays are 1-1 overall versus the Sentinels.  This will be their first visit to Patrick Henry.
